Certified Nurse Aide
Get started in your nursing career with an entry-level job as a nurse aide. As a certified nurse aide (CNA), you will be a vital member of the patient care team in hospitals, long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and home health agencies. This听150-hour Virginia Board of Nursing approved program combines four weeks of classroom education with 1 week (40听hours) of clinical externship to learn the technical and soft skills our region’s employers are seeking.
Learn the Skills
- Basic patient care: bathing, dressing, toileting, and feeding
- Patient education and emotional support
- Measure and record vital signs: blood pressure, pulse, and respiration
- Infection control and safety procedures
Tuition Includes
- Nurse Aide textbook and workbook
- stethoscope and BP kit
- criminal background check fee
- graduation pin and certificate
- Pearson Vue fee for NNAAP exam.
Certification
Students will be prepared to sit for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) certification exam.
Student Responsibilities
- Watch with a second hand
- Scrubs (black)
- TB screening and Flu shot ( between the months of Sept. and March)
Course Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must complete a background check, TB screening and Flu shot (Sept. thru March classes) to participate in the required 40-hour clinical externship.
- Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from clinical and 100% attendance is mandatory.
- Demonstrate college readiness by completing: Successful placement into ENF2 (English Fundamentals)
